A night of storm brings out our TRUE selves

Good morning to all, the sun is again high up on the sky just like it always do every morning. Our electricity just got back this morning. As i went around town yesterday, i saw the electric poles bent over with our Meralco technicians fixing the damage of an evenings storm hurriedly. Of course, they have to hurry, their revenue comes from those electric poles being well maintained and working properly.

As i saw this, i remembered comments made by few foreign friends that commented on our electricity poles during their visits few years ago, " Why is your electric poles still on the upper level of your roads? Why not underground? Its safer and cleaner looking for you if electric poles are underground." I understand yesterday what they meant with being safer, the brownouts could have been prevented if our electricity wires run underground, the storm could have just passed through our towns in the night and commerce continues normally the next day.

Electric poles on top of the ground must be easier or lower initial investment cost, but to maintain and trouble shoot cost must be higher, for sure the loss of income to the power consumers is evident yesterday.

We as humans can not prevent calamities or acts of GOD, we however can make the calamities to befall us more manageable. The successful corporations and establishments resumes their business of earning and making revenues just as fierce and strong as the calamities that hits them, while the always shortcuts and lowest cost of investment, not economical, seems to always be trouble shooting and making do and complaining and blaming if not GOD for forsaking them, the companies for not returning their power and services immediately after the storm. Worst yet, for the government agencies not warning them ahead of time to prepare for the storm so that they can be safe. Old stories, new calamity, same attitude. Hmmm observe where and which communities has the dirty canals, clogged drainage, and the crisscrossing of the electricity wires.

Lets us not blame others for our misfortune, please look at yourselves before you complain.

No one wants you to suffer, its not natural and its not a thing that makes one goes to sleep well at night. We all can help the needy, but to keep on repeating the same problem is only frustrating the contributors and individuals with a kind heart.

Change for the better, change for a safer workplace, change for a better home, change for an easier life - not by shortcuts but by good conscience, by hard earned income, by the true love of family.

We are all safe here and back to normal. May you and your love ones be well as well. Shalom
